L-Mount Alliance to Welcome New Members: Viltrox Potentially Joining
The L-Mount Alliance is set to welcome new members, with announcements expected in the near future.
According to a report by PhotoRumors on February 28th, during a live event at the 2025 CP+ show, Kaoru Mokunaka, Chief Representative of Leica Camera Japan, stated that the L-Mount Alliance currently has seven member companies: Leica, Panasonic, Sigma, DJI, Blackmagic Design (BMD), Samyang, and aSTRO. He added that several other companies have expressed interest in joining and are currently in negotiations regarding their applications. New members will be announced at an appropriate time in the future.
A presentation slide at the event showed that the goals of forming the L-Mount Alliance are:
- To provide a single lens mount optimized for both still photography and videography.
- To offer significant benefits to customers by sharing the optimal mount for the mirrorless era among three companies (original statement, now expanded).
- To provide customers with a diverse and future-proof range of products in the system camera field. To this end, the L-Mount is further seeking additional participants.
The report also mentioned that the Chinese lens manufacturer Viltrox is currently in communication with Leica and is expected to join the L-Mount Alliance.
